Frequently asked questions

What does the AWR5796 air conditioning condenser do?
The AWR5796 condenser sits at the front of the vehicle ahead of the radiator, in the airflow path. It takes hot, high-pressure refrigerant vapour from the compressor and condenses it into a high-pressure liquid before it moves on to the receiver-drier. Aftermarket quality, fits Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006).
Where is the air conditioning condenser located on the vehicle?
It's mounted at the very front of the vehicle, directly ahead of the radiator, so it gets the full flow of air coming through the front grille. It's typically the first heat exchanger in that airflow stack.
Why do AC condensers fail and when should this be replaced?
Condensers typically fail from stone or grit damage to the fins since they sit exposed at the front of the vehicle, or from internal corrosion letting refrigerant leak out. Signs include weak or warm air from the vents, oily residue on the fins, or a system that won't hold pressure.
