What does the EGR valve gasket do?
The EGR valve gasket seals the joint between the EGR valve and the manifold, keeping exhaust gas inside the recirculation path. When it fails, hot gas escapes at the joint, which usually shows up as a ticking or hissing noise, soot staining around the flange, and a rough idle.
Which vehicles is this EGR valve gasket listed for?
It's listed for the Freelander 2 (2006-2014), Range Rover Evoque (2012-2018) and Discovery Sport (2015 onwards). More than one engine was fitted across those platforms, so check this gasket against your own engine and VIN before ordering.
Can the old EGR gasket be reused?
No. Replace the gasket every time the EGR valve comes off. Once it has been clamped down and heat-cycled it won't seal properly a second time, and a reused gasket is a common cause of a repeat leak after the valve has been cleaned or swapped.
