What is this wheel bearing circlip used for?
This 51mm wheel bearing circlip is a retaining ring that locates the wheel hub bearing axially in the knuckle bore, stopping it working out under load. It's fitted during hub bearing assembly and renewed whenever the bearing is disturbed. The 51mm size suits the listed hubs.
Which models use this 51mm circlip?
This circlip fits the hub bearing on the New Defender L663, Discovery 5, Discovery Sport, Range Rover L322, L405, Range Rover Sport L494 and Evoque L538. Some have VIN breaks, for example the New Defender and Discovery 5 up to VIN L2999999, so check your chassis number.
Should the circlip be replaced with the bearing?
Renew this circlip whenever the wheel bearing is removed. A circlip that has been sprung open and refitted can lose tension and fail to retain the bearing. Fitting a new 51mm circlip with each hub bearing keeps it secure.
