Frequently asked questions

What is a blind nutsert used for?
A blind nutsert is an M6 blind rivet nut, or rivnut, that provides a captive threaded fixing point. It's set into a single face of sheet metal where there's no access to the back, giving a permanent M6 thread for a bolt or screw on the Defender and Discovery 3.
What tools are needed to fit a blind nutsert?
Fitting a blind nutsert typically needs a rivet nut setting tool that pulls the M6 rivnut to grip the panel from one side. You drill the correct clearance hole, insert the nutsert, and set it. It's a one-side operation, which is why it's used where the back of the panel can't be reached.
How many blind nutserts will I need?
Order one blind nutsert per threaded fixing point you're creating or replacing. On the Land Rover Defender and Discovery 3 they're used wherever a captive M6 thread is needed in a single-skin panel, so count the mounting positions and match the quantity.
