Frequently asked questions

What is the Exhaust Downpipe (ERR1295) for?
The Exhaust Downpipe (ERR1295) is the cast front section of the exhaust for the 200TDi and 300TDi diesel engines. It bolts to the turbocharger outlet and carries exhaust gas into the main system. Fitted to the Land Rover Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic on non-catalyst applications.
Where does the downpipe connect?
The downpipe bolts to the turbocharger outlet flange at the front of the 200TDi or 300TDi engine and feeds the rest of the exhaust system. It's the cast first section on non-catalyst setups for the Land Rover Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. A gasket typically seals the turbo flange.
What are the signs this downpipe needs replacing?
Cast exhaust downpipes typically fail through cracking at the flange or corrosion over time, causing a blowing exhaust leak near the turbo. On the 200TDi or 300TDi you may hear a ticking or roaring under load. Replace ERR1295 if the flange face is cracked or badly corroded.
