The ETC4105 is the crankshaft torsional vibration damper for the 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine. Mounted on the crankshaft nose, it damps torsional oscillation of the crankshaft to protect the engine from harmful vibration. It's supplied without the crankshaft pulley.
Which engines does the ETC4105 fit?
The ETC4105 fits the Land Rover Defender (1983-2006) with the 2.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel or 2.5L turbo diesel engine, but NOT the TDi. It suits vehicles with air conditioning and power steering. Confirm your engine is the non-TDi 2.5L before ordering.
Does the ETC4105 come with the crankshaft pulley?
No, the ETC4105 is supplied as the vibration damper only, without the crankshaft pulley. If your existing pulley is worn or damaged you'll need to source it separately and transfer or replace it. Check the condition of your pulley before fitting.
What are the signs a crankshaft vibration damper is failing?
A failing torsional vibration damper typically shows as engine vibration, a wobbling crankshaft pulley, or the rubber bonding between the hub and outer ring cracking or separating. On the 2.5L diesel a failed damper can lead to crankshaft or ancillary damage, so replace it once the bonding deteriorates.
