What does the GA1131 front door hinge set do?
GA1131 is a set of front door hinges that form the pivot between the front doors and the A-post on the Defender and Series III. It replaces corroded original castings that let the door drop and pull the seal out of line with the aperture.
How many hinges come in the GA1131 kit and is that enough for both front doors?
GA1131 supplies four hinges, two per door, so it covers both front doors in one kit, including stainless steel hinge pins and fixings for the full pair.
Why use aluminium hinges instead of the original Defender hinge?
The original Defender hinge castings corrode where they meet the aluminium door skin, causing the door to drop and the seal to misalign. GA1131's aluminium casting and stainless steel pins resist that corrosion at both the pivot and mounting face.
