What is the GA4344 Air Locker and what does it do?
It's a pneumatically operated differential lock replacing the standard diff centre in a Rover-type 24-spline axle. Unlocked it acts as a normal open differential; engaged, it ties both halfshafts together so drive reaches both wheels regardless of traction. Fits Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic axles with the 24-spline differential.
What else do I need to fit this Air Locker?
Fitting means stripping the differential and resetting the crown wheel and pinion. A crown wheel spacer is used and longer crown wheel bolts are required, these aren't supplied with the unit. You'll also need a 12V air compressor, air line and switch assembly to operate the locker from the cab.
Which Land Rover models take this 24-spline Air Locker?
This ARB Air Locker fits the Rover-type differential with 24-spline halfshafts, covering the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. Confirm your axle actually has the 24-spline differential before ordering, since later vehicles often run a different spline count.
