What does the ignition wire assembly do?
LR020229 is the set of high-tension ignition leads for the 4.0L V6 petrol engine (Cologne V6 SOHC), carrying the spark voltage from the ignition coils to the spark plugs. It's for the 4.0 V6 petrol only, fitted to the Discovery 3 and Discovery 4 with that engine.
Which engine and vehicles does this fit?
LR020229 fits the 4.0 V6 petrol only, in the Discovery 3 (2005-2009, VIN 6A000001 to 9A999999) and Discovery 4 (2010-2016, from VIN AA000001). It doesn't fit diesel or any other petrol engine, so confirm your Discovery runs the 4.0 V6 Cologne petrol.
What are the signs the ignition leads need replacing?
Failing ignition leads typically cause misfires, rough idle, hesitation, or a check-engine light on the 4.0 V6 petrol. Cracked insulation or high resistance in the HT leads lets spark voltage leak away. Replacing the full LR020229 set at once keeps spark delivery even across the Discovery's cylinders.
