Gemonteerd op de achternaaf en draaiend binnen de achterremsysteemconstructie, vormt de schijf het wrijvingsoppervlak waartegen de remblokken klemmen om achterremskracht te genereren. De geventileerde constructie omvat interne koelkanalen tussen de twee remoppervlakken om warmteafvoer te bevorderen en het risico op fading van de remmen te verminderen bij langdurige of herhaalde rembelastingen.
