What is the Throttle Body and Motor and what does it do?
The Throttle Body and Motor regulates the volume of air entering the intake manifold on the 2.0L Si4 turbocharged petrol engine. Its integrated electric motor positions the throttle plate under engine-management control (drive-by-wire), and an integral position sensor reports the plate angle to the ECU.
Which vehicles take this throttle body?
It fits the 2.0L Si4 TIVCT turbo petrol (Gen2) in the Discovery Sport L550 (2015+) and Range Rover Evoque L538 (2012-2018), both from VIN EH000001. Only that engine applies.
Where does the throttle body sit on the engine?
The throttle body sits in the air intake tract between the charge-air ducting and the intake manifold on the 2.0L Si4 petrol engine. It controls airflow into the manifold in response to accelerator demand and idle-speed correction.
What are the signs a throttle body is failing?
A failing throttle body typically shows as erratic idle, hesitation, a check-engine light or a limp-mode restriction. Because the motor and position sensor are integrated, a fault in either usually means replacing the complete throttle body unit.
