De tussenbak is een aandrijflijnassemblage, ook wel de voorasbehuizing genoemd, in het dwarsgeplaatste motor-vierwielaandrijvingssysteem.

Deze is aan de transaxle geschroefd en neemt de aandrijving over van het voordifferentieel en draait deze 90 graden naar de achterste aandrijfas, waarbij het koppel naar achteren naar het achterdifferentieel wordt overgebracht. What is the Power Transfer Unit and what does it do?
The Power Transfer Unit (PTU), also called the front axle case, takes drive from the front differential and turns it through 90 degrees to the rear propshaft in the transverse-engine all-wheel-drive system. Bolted to the transaxle, it transmits torque rearward to the rear differential, forming the front of the on-demand AWD driveline.
Where is the PTU located on a Discovery Sport or Evoque?
