Frequently asked questions

What is the camshaft cover gasket and what does it do?
The camshaft cover gasket seals the camshaft (rocker) cover to the cylinder head on the 2.2L Puma diesel, containing oil within the valve train and preventing leaks at the cover joint. This is a REINZ OEM gasket.
Which Defender engine does this gasket fit?
This gasket fits the Land Rover Defender 2007-2016 with the 2.2L diesel Puma engine. The 2.2L was fitted to later Defenders, typically from around 2011, so confirm your engine is the 2.2L and not the earlier 2.4L before ordering.
When should the camshaft cover gasket be replaced?
Replace the camshaft cover gasket whenever it leaks oil at the cover joint, or as a matter of course whenever the cam cover is removed. A hardened or crushed gasket typically weeps oil down the side of the engine. Reusing an old gasket usually leads to repeat leaks.
