Frequently asked questions

What does the front shock absorber do on a Range Rover Evoque?
The front shock absorber damps the spring on the Evoque L538 (2012-2018), left-hand side. It controls body movement and keeps the tyre in contact with the road over bumps. This is an OEM damper made by BWI.
Should I replace shock absorbers in pairs?
Shock absorbers are best replaced as an axle pair so both sides damp evenly. This part is the left-hand front only, so order the right-hand front as well to renew both. Mixing a new and worn damper can make the car handle unevenly.
What are the signs of a worn front shock absorber?
A worn front shock typically shows a bouncy or floaty ride, nose dive under braking, uneven tyre wear, or a knock over bumps. Oil leaking down the body of the damper is a clear sign it needs replacing on the Evoque.
