The exhaust manifold gasket seals the joint between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head on the 2.0L I4 diesel (AJ200/AJ20D4). It stops exhaust gas leaking at the head. This is an OEM Elring gasket.

When should the exhaust manifold gasket be replaced?
Replace the exhaust manifold gasket whenever the manifold or turbo is removed, as the old gasket won't reseal reliably. A failed gasket typically causes a ticking or blowing noise and an exhaust smell. Fit a new one as standard during that job.
