The fuel pressure regulator controls rail pressure on the 2.0L Ingenium diesel engine (AJ200D/AJ20D4). It threads into the high-pressure injection pump and meters how much fuel is pressurised into the common rail to match engine demand. Fitted to diesel Discovery 5, Discovery Sport, Evoque and Velar.
Where is the fuel pressure regulator located?
The fuel pressure regulator sits on the high-pressure diesel injection pump, screwed into the pump body. It's part of the common-rail fuel system, upstream of the injectors. On these 2.0L diesel engines it regulates the fuel the pump delivers before it reaches the rail.
What are the signs the fuel pressure regulator needs replacing?
A failing fuel pressure regulator typically shows as hard starting, power loss, rough running or a rail-pressure fault code. Diesel rail pressure that won't hold or build usually points here. If pressure control drops, the engine may go into limp mode.
