Frequently asked questions

What does the LR077703LR fuel pump do on a Range Rover L405?
The LR077703LR is the in-tank fuel pump and sender unit for the Range Rover L405 (2013-2022) with the 5.0L V8 petrol engine. It draws fuel from the tank and delivers it under pressure to the engine's fuel rail. The integrated sender unit measures fuel level and signals the dashboard gauge.
Does this fit both naturally aspirated and supercharged 5.0L V8 models?
Yes, LR077703LR fits both the naturally aspirated and supercharged 5.0L V8 petrol (AJ133) versions of the Range Rover L405. It's specified up to VIN (V)GA999999, so confirm your chassis number falls within that range before ordering, as later build vehicles may use a different pump.
How many fuel pumps are needed to service the tank on this model?
Typically one LR077703LR module covers the job, as the 5.0L V8 Range Rover L405 uses a single in-tank pump and sender assembly. It's supplied as a complete serviceable unit, so the pump, level sender, pick-up and strainer come together rather than as separate parts.
Is replacing this fuel pump a DIY job?
Replacing the LR077703LR is usually a specialist job on the Range Rover L405. Accessing the in-tank pump means depressurising the fuel system and reaching the tank-top access panel, which typically calls for proper fuel-handling precautions. Many owners have this fitted by a workshop, though a competent DIYer with the right equipment can manage it.
What are the signs the fuel pump needs replacing?
Common signs of fuel pump failure on the 5.0L V8 Range Rover L405 include hard starting, loss of power under load, the engine cutting out, or an inaccurate reading if the sender fails. A whining noise from the tank can also point to a worn pump. Left unresolved, the engine can lose fuel supply entirely.
