Het spruitstuk maakt deel uit van het luchtinlaatsysteem, monteert aan de cilinderkop en verdeelt de inkomende laadlucht van het inlaatkanaal naar de afzonderlijke cilinderinlaatpoorten. Het vormt de verbinding tussen de laadluchttoevoer en het inlaatkanaal van de kop.
