What is the front wheel knuckle and what does it do?
This front right-hand wheel knuckle is the suspension upright at the outer end of the front axle. It locates the wheel hub and bearing and forms the steered pivot: the control arms connect through ball joints, the track rod end screws into its steering arm, and the brake caliper carrier and disc shield bolt to it.
When should a wheel knuckle be replaced?
Replace the knuckle if the bearing bore is worn, a ball joint taper is ovalised or seized, threads are damaged, or there's any impact distortion, rather than reworking it. Check wheel alignment afterwards on the Range Rover Sport L494.
