Frequently asked questions

What is the LUF000010G crankshaft oil seal for?
The LUF000010G is the front crankshaft oil seal for the 4.4L M62 B44 V8 petrol engine in the Range Rover L322 (2002-2009). It fits into the timing cover and runs on the crankshaft nose behind the pulley hub, retaining oil where the crankshaft passes out of the block. Elring OEM.
When should the front crankshaft seal be replaced?
Replace the front crankshaft seal whenever the front cover, timing components or crankshaft pulley are removed on the 4.4 V8 Range Rover L322. Oil weeping from behind the crankshaft pulley, or oil on the underside of the timing cover, is the usual sign the seal has hardened and is leaking.
Is this a single-use seal?
Yes, the crankshaft oil seal is a single-use part. Once the seal has been disturbed or the pulley removed it should be renewed rather than refitted, since a used seal won't reliably reseal on the 4.4 V8 L322. Fit it with the correct seal driver to avoid distortion.
