Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC8828 tow bar kit?
The RTC8828 is an adjustable-height tow bar kit for the Land Rover Defender. The adjustable drop plate lets you set the tow ball height to suit the trailer or caravan. It's an aftermarket Allmakes kit designed to bolt to the Defender rear crossmember.
Which Defenders does this tow bar fit?
This tow bar kit fits the Defender 90 and 110 from 1986 to 2006, up to VIN suffix WA. It's for those two wheelbases only. Check your VIN suffix and that your rear crossmember is sound before ordering, as the crossmember carries the towing load.
Is this tow bar a DIY fit?
Fitting this tow bar is typically a home job with basic hand tools, bolting the assembly to the Defender rear crossmember mounting points. Electrics for trailer lighting are usually a separate kit. The crossmember must be solid, as corrosion there is common on older Defenders and affects towing safety.
