What is the STC3166 O-ring used for?
The STC3166 O-ring seals a pipe or hose union in the air conditioning refrigerant circuit, holding the joint against refrigerant and compressor oil pressure. It's compressed between the machined faces of the union as the joint is drawn together.
Can the air conditioning O-ring be reused?
No. It's a service item, so renew it whenever the connection is opened and coat it lightly with the correct refrigerant oil before assembly. Re-using a previously compressed O-ring is a common cause of slow refrigerant loss.
