What is the STC4005 hood rope and what does it do?
The STC4005 is the elasticated cord that tensions a Defender soft top (PVC hood) onto the body. Threaded along the edge of the hood, it pulls the fabric down onto the body cappings and retaining hooks, keeping the soft top taut and located.
Which Defenders does the STC4005 hood rope fit?
The STC4005 hood rope fits the soft-top Defender from 1987 to 2016, covering 90, 110 and 130 models with the PVC hood assembly. It applies to canvas or PVC soft-top vehicles rather than hard-top or station wagon bodies.
How is the hood rope fitted to the soft top?
The elastic hood rope threads through the sewn channel around the edge of the soft top and hooks onto the body fasteners to tension the fabric. It's a straightforward DIY job needing no special tools, and it's a common renewal when an old hood's elastic has perished.
