What is the locking fuel cap for?
The locking fuel cap seals the fuel tank filler neck and locks to prevent fuel theft and tampering. It uses a two-lug bayonet fixing and is vented, so the tank equalises pressure as fuel is drawn off. It's supplied with keys to lock and unlock.
Which Defenders does this locking fuel cap fit?
It fits the Land Rover Defender 1987 to 2006 with the two-lug bayonet filler neck, from VIN AA259679 up to WA159806. Later cars used a different filler arrangement, so check your VIN falls in that range before ordering.
How do I know if I have the two-lug bayonet filler neck?
The two-lug bayonet cap fits and locks with a quarter turn against two lugs in the filler neck. If your existing cap twists on with two tabs rather than screwing on a thread, it's the bayonet type this cap replaces. Compare with your old cap to confirm.
