What is the TF850 fuel tank guard?
The TF850 is a 6mm aluminium fuel tank guard for the Land Rover Defender 90. It replaces the thin pressed-steel tank cradle beneath the rear-mounted fuel tank, carrying the tank and shielding the plastic tank body from rock strike and puncture off-road.
Which Defender does the TF850 fit?
The TF850 fits the Land Rover Defender 90 from 1998 onward, all engines. It's shaped to the 90's rear underbody tank position, so confirm your vehicle is a 1998-on Defender 90 before ordering.
Can I keep my tow kit with the TF850 fitted?
Yes, factory tow kits and rear steps can stay fitted with the TF850. Some trimming may be needed where non-standard equipment is present. The fixings are supplied for a bolt-on fit in place of the original steel cradle.
Why fit an alloy tank guard over steel?
The TF850 uses 6mm aluminium to shield the tank at lower weight than a steel guard of equivalent strength. Less rear-end weight helps off-road, while the alloy still resists the rock strikes that puncture an exposed plastic tank.
