What is the wide angle rear propshaft?

This is a wide angle rear propshaft for the Land Rover Defender 110. It transmits drive from the transfer box rear output flange to the rear axle differential input flange, and its wide angle yoke and universal joints allow considerably more articulation than a standard shaft.

Why fit a wide angle propshaft?

A wide angle propshaft suits long-travel suspension, where a standard yoke can bind at full axle droop and strain or tear the shaft. The wide angle geometry accommodates the extra articulation, so it is chosen when running raised or long-travel setups on the rear axle.

Will this cure driveline vibration from a raised suspension?

No. A wide angle propshaft is not a remedy for driveline vibration caused by raised suspension. That vibration comes from the shaft angle relative to its end flanges, which this shaft doesn't alter. A double cardan propshaft is the component intended to address it.

Which Defender does it fit?

This propshaft fits the Land Rover Defender 110 from 2007 on, and is specific to the 110 wheelbase. It won't suit the shorter Defender 90, which uses a different rear propshaft length. Confirm your wheelbase and year before ordering.
