This is a 12V 5W capless wedge-base bulb, industry type W5W and commonly catalogued as 501. On the Range Rover L322 it serves the side position lamp in the headlamp unit and marker positions in the rear lamp assembly.

What base does this bulb have?

This bulb has a glass capless wedge base that pushes directly into its holder without a metal cap or bayonet pins. The contact wires fold back along the wedge flats and press against sprung terminals in the holder, so it's a push-fit W5W type.

How do I fit this wedge bulb correctly?

Press the bulb squarely into the holder. Rocking it sideways can crack the wedge or displace the folded contact wires, which produces an intermittent connection. Push straight in for a reliable contact on the L322 side and marker positions.
