What does the M66 gearbox driveshaft oil seal do?
This driveshaft oil seal seals the driveshaft output on the M66 6-speed manual gearbox fitted to the Discovery Sport, Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque L538 with the 2.2L diesel. The 67mm seal keeps gearbox oil in where the driveshaft exits the transmission.
Does this 67mm driveshaft seal fit every Freelander 2?
On the Freelander 2 this 67mm M66 driveshaft oil seal fits vehicles up to VIN (V)FH999999 with the 2.2L diesel. Check your VIN before ordering. It also fits the Discovery Sport (2015 on) and Evoque L538 running the M66 manual gearbox.
Should the driveshaft oil seal be replaced when disturbed?
Replace this 67mm driveshaft oil seal whenever the driveshaft is removed from the M66 gearbox. Oil seals typically won't reseal once disturbed, so a new Corteco seal is standard during any driveshaft or gearbox job on the Discovery Sport, Freelander 2 or Evoque L538.
