What does the GA1178 diff lock lever kit do?
GA1178 adds a manual centre differential lock control to the LT230 transfer case on the Land Rover Discovery 2. The transfer case carries the locking mechanism, but Discovery 2s built without the factory control have no lever to engage it, so this kit supplies the missing cable-operated lever assembly.
Will the GA1178 diff lock lever kit fit any Discovery 2 transfer case?
No. GA1178 only fits LT230 transfer cases with a serial number starting 41D or 42D. Early Discovery 2 units not supplied with a factory centre diff lock function aren't compatible, so check the transfer case serial number before ordering.
How does the GA1178 kit fit onto the vehicle?
The kit's lever assembly attaches to the existing high/low range selector stud, so range selection and centre diff lock are then operated from a single lever. It's a linkage installation rather than a transfer case rebuild, though it does mean working in the transfer case tunnel.
