What is the GA4697 water housing kit for?
The GA4697 kit renews the coolant outlet housing at the cylinder head on the Td5 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbo diesel, where the top radiator hose connects. It includes the outlet elbow and its sealing gasket.
Why does the Td5 water housing need replacing?
The outlet elbow on the Td5 corrodes in service and is a common source of coolant leaks at the joint where the top hose connects. Renewing the housing together with its gasket at the first sign of leakage or corrosion prevents a repeat failure at the same joint.
Does the GA4697 fit non-Td5 engines?
No, the GA4697 water housing kit is for the Td5 engine only, fitted to the Defender (1998-2006) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004). Other engine variants use a different coolant outlet arrangement, so check your engine code before ordering.
