What is this CV joint kit used for?
This kit rebuilds a single constant velocity (CV) joint in the front axle swivel housing on the Discovery 2, transmitting drive to the stub axle while letting the front wheel steer.
How many kits are needed to replace both front CV joints?
Two. Each kit covers one joint, so you'll need a kit per side to overhaul both front driveshafts.
Is this the same kit as the Discovery 1 non-ABS version?
No. This kit is for the Discovery 2's ABS-equipped front axle, which uses a different CV joint kit to the earlier Discovery 1 non-ABS setup. Check your axle configuration before ordering.
What causes CV joint failure on the Discovery 2?
A split gaiter is the most common cause, letting grease escape and contaminants in, which accelerates joint wear. A clicking or knocking noise on full steering lock, especially under load, is the typical warning sign.
