Frequently asked questions

What does the heater blower motor do?
The heater blower motor is the electric fan that pushes air through the heater and air conditioning system into the cabin on the Land Rover Discovery 2. It drives the airflow you feel from the vents on every fan speed.
Which Discovery 2 does this blower motor fit?
This blower motor fits the left-hand drive Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004), fitted from VIN (V)YA256944. It is the Bosch OEM unit. Confirm your vehicle is left-hand drive and falls from that VIN before ordering, as earlier and right-hand drive cars differ.
What are the signs of a failing blower motor?
A failing blower motor usually shows as weak airflow, no air from the vents on some or all speeds, or a noisy, whirring fan. Because it drives all cabin ventilation, a failed motor leaves you with no heater or air conditioning airflow. Replacing it restores full fan operation.
Is the blower motor a DIY fit?
Fitting the blower motor is possible at home for a competent DIYer, though access on the Discovery 2 is usually tight, often under the passenger side of the dashboard or bulkhead. Basic hand tools are typically enough once you can reach the unit.
