What does the MAP sensor do?
The MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor measures pressure in the intake manifold and sends it to the ECU to calculate load and set fuelling. On Td5 Defender and Discovery 2 engines it's central to smooth running; a faulty sensor can cause poor throttle response and rough idling.
