Frequently asked questions

What is the air spring used for?
This air spring is the rear suspension airbag on the Discovery 2 fitted with self-levelling air suspension. It replaces a coil spring at the rear, using compressed air to support the vehicle and keep ride height level under load. Air springs typically perish and leak with age.
How many air springs does a Discovery 2 need?
The Discovery 2 rear air suspension uses two air springs, one per side. If one has failed the other is usually a similar age, so many owners replace both together to avoid a second job soon after and keep the rear sitting level.
What are the signs the air spring is failing?
Signs include the rear of the Discovery 2 sagging overnight, the air suspension warning light, and the compressor running longer or more often to hold pressure. Air springs typically crack or perish where the rubber folds, letting air escape. A failed spring usually can't hold ride height.
Does this fit every Discovery 2?
This air spring fits Discovery 2 models with self-levelling rear air suspension. Discovery 2 vehicles built with rear coil springs use a different part, so confirm your vehicle has the air system at the rear before ordering rather than a coil spring.
