Frequently asked questions

What is the TF490 dislocation cone?
The TF490 is a front dislocation cone for the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It's a cone-shaped seat that lets the coil spring pop out of its seat cleanly at full droop, then guides it back in as the suspension compresses. It's used with long-travel off-road suspension setups.
Where does it fit and how many are needed?
The TF490 fits the front of a Discovery 2 at the spring seat. You typically need two, one for each front side, so the spring on both sides can dislocate and reseat safely. Fitting one side only would leave the suspension unbalanced at extreme articulation.
Why fit dislocation cones?
Dislocation cones let the coil spring leave its seat at extreme axle droop without jamming or falling out of place, common on lifted Discovery 2 off-road builds. The TF490 guides the spring back onto its seat as the axle comes up. Without them a dislocated spring can end up trapped or misaligned.
