The rubber insulator is an exhaust mounting hanger that supports the exhaust system on its brackets. It isolates exhaust vibration and noise from the body while allowing the system to expand as it heats up. Fitted to models including the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.
How many exhaust rubber insulators are typically needed?
Exhaust systems typically use several rubber insulators along their length, so it's common to replace them as a set rather than singly. Checking each hanger while the vehicle is raised usually shows which have perished. This part is supplied individually.
What are the signs this exhaust insulator needs replacing?
A failing exhaust insulator usually shows as a rattle or knock from underneath, or the exhaust hanging lower than normal. Perished or split rubber lets the exhaust move and can stress the joints. Replacing worn insulators restores correct exhaust support on the Discovery 5 and Evoque.
