Frequently asked questions

What is the LR184641LR accessory drive belt and what does it do?
The LR184641LR is the primary accessory (serpentine) drive belt for the 3.0L V6 engine in the Discovery 4 (2014-2016). Driven from the crankshaft pulley, it turns the engine ancillaries including the alternator, air conditioning compressor and water pump, running over the tensioner and idler pulleys.
How do I know when this belt needs replacing?
Cracked, glazed or missing ribs mean the accessory belt is due for replacement. On the Discovery 4 3.0L V6, inspect the belt's ribbed face for wear and check the tensioner and idler pulleys at the same time, since a worn tensioner shortens the life of a new belt.
Should I replace the tensioner with the belt?
Inspect the tensioner and idler pulleys whenever you fit this belt. A worn tensioner won't hold correct tension and will shorten a new belt's life. If the pulleys are noisy or show play, renew them alongside the belt on the 3.0L V6.
