It mounts between the intermediate exhaust section and the vehicle floor, reflecting radiated heat away from the underbody, fuel lines, and brake lines routed nearby. Genuine Land Rover part for V8 petrol applications.
What happens if the exhaust heat shield is missing or corroded through?
Without the shield, radiated heat from the exhaust reaches the floor and the fuel and brake lines above it. A corroded or broken shield will also rattle against the body. Replacement is preferable to removal, as the protection it provides to brake and fuel components is safety-relevant.
