What does this Swivel Kit include?
This is a complete swivel housing overhaul kit for one side of the front axle, with the 12mm swivel seal specification. It includes the swivel housing ball, swivel pin bearing, upper swivel pin, oil seals, gasket, retaining plate, shims, joint washers and a sachet of swivel housing grease.
Does this kit cover both sides of the front axle?
No. Each kit covers one side only, so you'll need two kits to overhaul both swivel housings on the front axle.
Why does the swivel housing ball need replacing along with the seal?
Once the ball's outer running face is scored or corroded, a new oil seal won't hold against it. The ball is renewed together with the seal, the swivel pin bearing and the shims that set swivel pin preload, rather than replacing the seal alone.
Which vehicles use the 12mm swivel seal specification?
This kit fits the Discovery 1 up to VIN JA32850, and the Range Rover Classic from 1985 up to VIN JA624516. Later production on both models switched to a different swivel seal specification, so check your VIN before ordering.
