What is the TF646GD brake hose kit and what does it do?
The TF646GD is a stainless steel braided brake hose kit with five lines, in a +2 inch extended length. The flexible hoses carry hydraulic pressure across the moving joint between the chassis brake pipes and the axle pipework and calipers, absorbing suspension and steering movement on a Discovery 1.
Which Discovery 1 does this kit fit?
The TF646GD fits the Land Rover Discovery 1 built from 1989 to 1992 only. It doesn't suit the later 1993-1998 Discovery 1, which uses a different brake system. Confirm your build year before ordering, as the five-line layout matches the early split hydraulic circuit.
Why are the hoses 2 inches longer than standard?
The TF646GD hoses are 2 inches longer to suit suspension raised by around 2 inches, so the axle reaches full droop without straining the hose. They also work at standard ride height, but the extra length is aimed at lifted vehicles running longer travel.
What's the advantage of braided hoses over rubber?
Braided hoses resist expansion under line pressure, so pedal travel stays consistent and the spongy feel of ageing rubber hoses is removed. The TF646GD uses a PTFE inner liner and stainless steel braid under a clear protective cover for firmer braking.
