Benzinemotoren – met name direct ingespoten en supercharged exemplaren – produceren van nature niet voldoende stabiel inlaatspruitstukvacuüm om de rembekrachtiger aan te drijven. Deze pomp levert daarom het vacuüm dat de bekrachtiger nodig heeft voor consistent bekrachtigd remmen. Hij creëert een onderdruk in de bekrachtigerkamer en handhaaft het vacuüm bij wisselende motorbelasting. Toegepast op de 3.0L supercharged V6 en 5.0L V8 benzinemotoren.
