Frequently asked questions

What is the GA4850 rear brake pad set used for?
GA4850 is a rear brake pad set that clamps against the rear disc via the caliper piston, providing rear-axle service braking. It uses EBC Yellowstuff friction material and is supplied as a full axle set.
Does the rear brake pad handle the parking brake too?
No. On the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic, the parking brake is a separate drum brake on the transfer box output, so these rear pads only do service braking and wear purely from normal stops.
Which models and years does GA4850 fit?
GA4850 covers the Defender 1986 to 2006, Discovery 1 1989 to 1998, and Range Rover Classic 1970 to 1994. There's a running change noted around 1994 on the Defender application, so confirm your build year or VIN before ordering.
How many sets do I need to replace the rear pads?
One GA4850 set covers both rear calipers on the axle. Pads should always be replaced as a complete set rather than individually to keep braking balanced side to side.
