Diesel Exhaust Fluid (AdBlue) is een verbruiksvloeistof voor het Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) uitlaatgasnabehandelingssysteem op dieselmotoren.

Het is een zeer zuivere 32,5% waterige ureumoplossing die wordt gedoseerd in de uitlaatstroom vóór de SCR-katalysator, waar het reageert met stikstofoxiden (NOx) en deze omzet in stikstof en water om de motor te helpen voldoen aan de dieseluitstootnormen. Het wordt bewaard in de speciale DEF-tank van het voertuig en periodiek bijgevuld.

What is AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) used for?
AdBlue is a 32.5% urea solution metered into the exhaust ahead of the SCR catalyst, where it converts nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and water. It helps diesel Land Rover and Range Rover models meet emissions standards and is stored in a dedicated DEF tank.
Which vehicles need AdBlue?
AdBlue is only for diesel models fitted with an SCR aftertreatment system and a dedicated DEF tank. That typically includes the New Defender 2020+, Discovery 5 2017+, Discovery Sport 2015+, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, Evoque and Velar diesel variants.
Does AdBlue go in the diesel fuel tank?
No. AdBlue goes into its own dedicated DEF tank, separate from the diesel fuel tank and usually filled through a blue cap. Adding it to the diesel tank can cause serious damage, so it must only go in the AdBlue filler.
How is AdBlue topped up?
AdBlue is replenished periodically through the vehicle's DEF filler into the dedicated tank, and the system meters it into the exhaust automatically while driving. Watch the dashboard AdBlue range warning and top up before the tank runs empty to avoid a no-restart condition.
