Frequently asked questions

What is the LR186378 accessory drive belt and what does it do?
The LR186378 is the accessory drive belt for the 2.0L Ingenium four-cylinder engine (AJ200/AJ20P4, petrol and diesel), fitted to the New Defender L663, Discovery 5, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque L551 and Velar. The multi-ribbed belt runs from the crankshaft pulley around the ancillaries, tensioned by the automatic tensioner.
How do I know when this belt needs changing?
Belt condition is a routine service check. Rib cracking, glazing, edge fraying, missing rib material or oil and coolant contamination all call for renewal. On the 2.0L Ingenium engine, check the tensioner and idler bearings while the belt is off, since a tired tensioner destroys a new belt.
Why does correct belt length matter?
The ribs must seat fully in the pulley grooves for the drive to transmit torque without slip or tracking off. A wrong-profile or wrong-length belt can slip or be thrown, so the LR186378 is matched to the 2.0L Ingenium front-end accessory drive layout.
