Frequently asked questions

What is the roof aerial mast and what does it do?
The roof aerial mast mounts on the roof and carries the GPS aerial element on the Freelander 1. It receives the satellite positioning signal used by the on-board navigation system and feeds it down to the navigation head unit.
Which Freelander does this aerial mast fit?
This aerial mast fits the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1997-2006) equipped with the factory navigation system, from VIN 2A000001 onward. It's the navigation and GPS version, so vehicles without factory nav use a different aerial.
Can the roof aerial mast be fitted at home?
The roof aerial mast can typically be fitted at home with basic hand tools. It usually unscrews from the roof base, so replacing a damaged or snapped mast is generally a straightforward DIY job. Take care to reseal the base to keep water out.
