Frequently asked questions

What is the LJR105070 timing cover used for?

The LJR105070 is the front timing cover for the 2.5L KV6 petrol engine in the Freelander 1 (1996-2006). It fits over the front of the engine to protect the timing belt and pulleys from dirt and debris, and it's removed to reach the belt for inspection or replacement.

Does this timing cover fit all KV6 Freelanders?

This front timing cover is listed for the 2.5L KV6 petrol Freelander 1 with automatic transmission. Confirm your gearbox before ordering, as fitment is tied to the automatic KV6 setup. It covers the front timing belt run on the KV6 engine.

When should the timing cover be replaced?

Replace the timing cover if it's cracked, warped or missing fixings, since a broken cover lets grit reach the timing belt. It's worth checking the cover during a KV6 timing belt service and renewing it if the plastic has gone brittle with age and heat.
