Spoorkogelgewricht voor de stuurstang, links (bestuurderszijde), geschroefd op het buitenste uiteinde van de spoorstang aan het stuurhuis.

Het spoorkogelgewricht is het buitenste kogelgewricht dat de stuurbeweging van het stuurhuis overbrengt naar het fuseestuk, waardoor de naaf kan draaien voor het sturen en mee kan bewegen met de veerweg, terwijl de verbinding behouden blijft. De schroefdraadstift stelt de toespoorafstelling in wanneer de wieluitlijning opnieuw wordt ingesteld.

Vervanging is geïndiceerd wanneer het kogelgewricht speling heeft gekregen, de hoes gescheurd is, of het sturen los aanvoelt of klopt. Na montage moet de wieluitlijning worden gecontroleerd.
