Frequently asked questions

What does the LR003968 oil cooler gasket seal?
The LR003968 oil cooler gasket seals the mating joint between the oil cooler and the oil filter housing on the Freelander 2 3.2L DOHC I6 petrol engine (Si6). It contains engine oil pressure at that interface.
How many oil cooler gaskets are needed?
Two oil cooler gaskets are fitted per engine on the 3.2L Si6, so this joint takes a set of two. Replace both together whenever the oil cooler or filter housing is removed on the Freelander 2.
When should the oil cooler gasket be replaced?
Replace this gasket whenever the oil cooler or oil filter housing is separated on the Freelander 2 3.2L I6, or if oil is leaking from that joint. The old gasket won't reseal reliably once disturbed, so fit new ones on reassembly.
