Oliethermostaatassemblage voor het oliekoelsysteem van de 2.0L dieselmotor uit de L-serie.

De oliethermostaat regelt de olietemperatuur van de motor door de doorstroming door de oliekoeler te regelen. Terwijl de olie koud is, omzeilt deze de koeler, zodat de motor snel op bedrijfstemperatuur komt; naarmate de olietemperatuur stijgt, opent deze om olie door de koeler te leiden en deze binnen het normale bedrijfstemperatuurbereik te houden.

The oil thermostat assembly regulates engine oil temperature by controlling flow through the oil cooler on the L Series 2.0L diesel engine. While the oil is cold it bypasses the cooler so the engine warms quickly, then opens as oil heats to route it through the cooler and hold oil within its normal operating range.

What happens when the oil thermostat fails?
Typically a failed oil thermostat sticks and disrupts oil temperature control on the L Series diesel. Either way oil temperature regulation suffers, so replacing the thermostat restores normal running temperature.
