Frequently asked questions

What does this shock absorber do?
This Super Gaz shock absorber is a gas-pressurised rear damper built for vehicles raised to a +50mm (2 inch) ride height, controlling spring oscillation between the chassis and the live rear axle.
How is this different from the standard height version?
It's longer than the standard shock absorber, with a closed length of 400mm and extended length of 640mm, matched to the extra suspension travel on a lifted vehicle.
How many do I need for a lifted rear axle?
You'll need two, one per side, since this unit is supplied singly. Fitting only one will unbalance the damping across the rear axle.
Why does this shock fail on a lifted vehicle?
Rear dampers on lifted vehicles typically wear faster due to the increased suspension travel and load through the extended stroke. Watch for reduced damping control, leaks around the seal or uneven ride height side to side.
